BeteBet Bonus Types Explained for New Zealand
A plain-language look at how our welcome bonus and other promotions work.
At BeteBet we built our promotions around one straightforward idea: New Zealand players should understand exactly what they are claiming before they claim it. Our BeteBet welcome bonus is the starting point for new players joining us, and it sits alongside other promotional ideas common across online casino play. This page walks through the different bonus types you may encounter, in plain English, so the terminology stops feeling like a wall of fine print.
Bonus types in online casino gaming generally fall into a handful of recognisable categories. A welcome bonus greets a new player on their first deposit or registration. Free spins give extra spins on selected slot titles without extra stake. Reload bonuses reward an existing player on a later deposit, and cashback-style offers return a share of losses over a set period. Each type carries its own conditions, and understanding the shape of those conditions matters more than the headline offer itself.
Common bonus types you may see
Below is a general list of bonus formats used across New Zealand online casino sites, including the welcome offer we provide at BeteBet. Recognising the difference between them helps you read any promotion with confidence.
- Welcome bonus: offered to a new player, usually tied to an early deposit or registration step.
- BeteBet free spins: a set number of spins awarded on selected slot games, often bundled with a welcome offer.
- Reload bonus: a promotion aimed at existing players making a further deposit after their first one.
- Cashback offer: a partial return of net losses calculated over a defined period.
- Loyalty or recurring promotion: smaller, repeated offers tied to ongoing play rather than a single event.
Why the format of a bonus matters
The format of a promotion shapes how it can be used in practice. A deposit-based welcome bonus behaves differently to a set of free spins, because one adds to a balance while the other is restricted to specific slot games. A cashback offer, by contrast, only becomes relevant after a losing session, which makes it a different kind of safety net entirely. Reading the format first tells you what kind of play the bonus actually supports before you look at any conditions attached to it.
How wagering conditions fit into bonus types
Every bonus type we have described above typically carries a wagering condition, which is the requirement to play through bonus funds a set number of times before any withdrawal. These conditions vary by promotion type, by game category and by operator, so they are never identical from one offer to the next. We keep the full detail of how these requirements work on our dedicated wagering requirements page, rather than repeating partial figures here.
Reading a bonus before you claim it
Before claiming any bonus, it helps to check three things: which games count toward the wagering condition, whether there is a time limit to clear it, and whether a maximum bet applies while the bonus is active. These three checks apply whether the offer is a welcome bonus, free spins, or a reload promotion. Taking a moment to read them first avoids the common frustration of a bonus expiring unused.

| Free spins | Credited on selected slot games, often alongside a welcome offer |

Where bonuses fit alongside games and deposits
A bonus is only useful if it matches how you actually play. Players who favour BeteBet slots will find free spins and welcome offers more directly relevant, since these are usually restricted to slot titles rather than table games. Before claiming any offer, it is also worth understanding how deposits are processed, which we cover on our payment methods page rather than here.
Matching a bonus to your play style
If you mostly play slot games, a free spins promotion or a slots-focused welcome bonus tends to suit you best, since the wagering condition will likely be built around that category. If you prefer a broader mix of games, a general deposit bonus may fit better, provided you check which titles count toward clearing it. Either way, matching the bonus type to your habits makes the offer easier to use in full.
